JPW successfully obtains GDO Consent in Hammersmith

JPW, acting on behalf of Hammersmith United Charities and Barrowden United Charities, has successfully obtained General Development Order (GDO) consent on an office to residential conversion scheme at 1 Clifton Walk, Hammersmith.

The new Permitted Development Rights Order came into effect in May 2013 to enable developers to convert empty and unutilised offices (B1) to residential (C3) without having to go through a long planning application process, thereby saving both time and cost for developers and councils.

The number of prior approval notifications has greatly exceeded the government’s expectation but it is important to note that it is not merely a ‘rubber stamping’ exercise and councils are refusing GDO consent if flood risk assessments, contamination risk assessments and transport and highways impact reports are insufficient.

Prior to applying for GDO consent JPW undertook a feasibility study on the scheme to provide strategic property advice for our clients. For more information on our planning and development consultancy service please contact us on 020 7776 2930.
